Old Business

  1. Exhibitor Party at NC State Fair Show was passed.
  2. Futurity (whether to remain open) After discussion, a motion was put to a vote to leave SEHA Futurity open until 2008.  We will become a closed futurity starting in 2009.  The vote passed.
  3. S.E.H.A.  Raffle ---50/50 will be left up to the Executive Board.  We will have the raffle if the Harness Raffle is ended.  Vote was taken and passed.
  4. Promotions with trophies donated to local shows---You will need to call Carolyn Whitfield at

252-244-2200 to get these trophies.  Remember 2 trophies for each show to use in the hackney  pony division (1 adult class—Road pony, pleasure driving, harness, or hackney  and 1 youth class—Road pony to bike or saddle, pleasure driving or hackney pleasure pony under saddle , harness, or hackney class)

  1. Jackpot Class---After much discussion this business was sent to committee so that we could come up            with a plan of action to present.  Contact Lib McClellan if you would like to help with this committee.  (We are trying to set up an added money class to give out at a shows in different states)
  2. Jackpot class at the Fair---After much discussion, a motion was put to a vote to add money to one of the classes at the NC State Fair. It was passed.  The motion was to add $150 to the class at the NC State Fair that had the most entries in them for 2006.  The SEHA member/owner with the pony that has been nominated for the High Point Awards that places the highest place will receive $100.  The SEHA member/owner with the pony that has been nominated for the High Point Awards that places second highest place will receive $50.
  3. Trophies for the Southeastern Hackney Futurity were donated.

New Business

  1. Website---Sally Tonquet presented the facts about having a website.  She said that it would cost the Association $25 a year to maintain the site.  After discussion, a motion was made and passed to pay $25 for Sally to reserve the web site name.
  2. Banquet and Annual Meeting Location for 2007-2008---No action taken
  3. Increasing the futurity---We need to increase our money to the winners and get more ponies nominated.  How are we going to do this:
    1.  Raffle of Kennedy Harness---Pat Kennedy offered the SEHA a set of Kennedy Harness at cost ($2,800) to sell 100 raffle tickets at $100 each.  After much discussion, a motion was made and passed to except Pat’s offer.  The money would be put into the futurity fund to help improve at least first place money.
    2. Since the Futurity is still open, we need an incentive to get members to nominate early.

1.       A free business ad in the October Newsletter to the owner that nominates ponies by July 30, 2007. (Postmarked July 30,2007) Owner must send information to Lib McClellan before September 1, 2007.

2.       A raffle on a Kennedy Colt Halter—each pony’s name will be placed in a raffle for the halter (winner to be presented at or before the State Fair).

    1. Send information out to members in other association.

Jack Richards Jr. thanked everyone for coming, thanked Jay and Pat Kennedy for their presentation, and Barry Dickerson for his presentation.  He closed the general membership meeting and turned the Executive meeting over to the new President, Lib McClellan.
