Presidents Corner:

I hope that everyone has had a successful 2011 show season. My family has enjoyed showing out Hackney ponies, having some fun family times, and enjoying meeting other Hackney exhibitors.

Working together, our association raised money through the sale of raffle tickets to support our futurity, increased our membership by encouraging other Hackney owners to join our association, and hosted several “meet and greet” opportunities at several horse shows.

If you were not able to attend the North Carolina State Fair, you missed a fun-filled time. Our numbers were down in several futurity classes, but there were many nice ponies at the competition. The ”meet and greet” went very well for a cool October night, hot vegetable beef soup and cornbread was served to over one hundred exhibitors and their family and friends.

I would like to thank all of you for being patient with me this past year for being your elected President. I have enjoyed working with all the members this year and hope that I have helped the Association move on a path forward to improve our membership.

I am looking forward to seeing you at our annual meeting next month. I encourage all of our members to attend the morning meeting, afternoon clinic and evening award banquet and futurity auction. I am asking each member to start gathering auction items as well as seeking donations from others involved with the Hackney breed. Futurity auction donation forms can be found on the website. Click here to go to the form. Our futurity auction is a great opportunity to raise the necessary funds to support our Southeastern Hackney Futurity for the coming Fall 2012.
